The first “state employees” should appear on the market next year. And the company plans to develop the national segment in two directions at once. On the one hand, Tata Motors. Cooperating with a company from India, the Germans are planning to create a whole series of models. All VAG vehicles will be offered in emerging markets.
Skoda will also be involved in this. The leadership of the Czech brand will become the guiding link in this process. The models that Volkswagen will release jointly with Tata, in terms of price will be more affordable than Skoda cars.
On the other hand, Chinese partners, car manufacturers from the Middle Kingdom, are FAW and JAC. However, the situation here is completely different, since the German auto giant, in alliance with the Chinese, will create a separate brand that will be oriented towards the production of budget-class cars. At the same time, its development falls on the shoulders of companies from the Middle Kingdom.
Cars, the release of which is planned within the framework of the signed agreement, will have a price tag not exceeding 11 thousand euros. We already know some details about the upcoming novelties. It is expected that the first time in the lineup of models of the young sub brand will be present until an unknown car. Most likely, the first-born will be a sedan or a car in the back of a hatchback. Later, the all-terrain vehicle will appear. And it has already been announced that the latter will have among the available options and a drive system for all-wheel drive.
The platform, which has long been known – PQ, will be the basis for creating models of a new sub-brand. It is used for the release of the Golf 6 generation. As journalists of one of the foreign publications have told, the plans of the management of the auto concern to use some elements of the MQB platform when creating “budget employees”. Which components will be borrowed by the manufacturer when producing inexpensive models for developing countries, is not yet specified.
At the moment it is known that new cars of a budget class from VAG will be the first to buy inhabitants of the Middle Kingdom and India.
